World AIDS Day

World AIDS Day

Take place on every 1st December, World AIDS Day is a day to unite in fighting against HIV, and also show support those who live with it. Not just that, World AIDS Day is also an opportunity to raise awareness about AIDS pandemic. Some of the people still has the wrong idea about what AIDS really is, thus this AIDS Day is a great chance to educate people.
According to UNAIDS, in Indonesia there are 690 thousand people living with HIV on 2015. Two biggest factor of the spreading in Indonesia is through unsafe sex and the use of the same syringe when using narcotics. The virus itself can be found on body liquid of people with HIV, the body liquid here are sperm, anus and vagina liquid, blood, and breast milk. HIV does NOT spread through body sweat or urine. Some people living with HIV got discriminated because the awareness about the spreading of HIV is very low or even none. People are afraid if they are around they can get infected too, but it is totally wrong. The virus did not spread through the air, after all it did not last long on the outside.
World AIDS Day has become so important seeing the number of people infected with HIV rise from year to year and the stigma that still haunt people with HIV/AIDS. Let’s open our eyes, raise the awareness, stop the infection by educating people, and hold their hands. They are human just like us, they still have the life and dreams to reach. Happy World AIDS Day everyone!
